In most places the weather must first get cold before it snows

You know you are in Alaska when it must first warm up before you see snow.

Frigid air is just too dry to produce meaningful precipitation.

And warm up it did. I had a foot of snow on my car this morning.

We will be firing up the barbecue this weekend.

Comments:
I just wish we had snow. Thanks to the new climate, it seems winters are getting scarce in Finland. We've had, what, a week of snow during the whole winter so far, and the average temperature has been about 3-5 degrees Celsius.

I don't miss the -20, but I really, really would like some snow.

In a few years we might be able to farm on Greenland, just like the Vikings did when the climate was warmer several hundred years ago.
